Open the window "Properties: system".

Method I:
  • Right-click the icon "My computer";
  • In the drop-down menu left-click "Properties";
  • Then left-click "Devices".

Method II:
  • Click the start menu then choose "Control panel";
  • In the "Control panel" window left-click (Double-click) on the "System" icon;
  • Select "Properties", then left-click "Devices".

To check if mode DMA is enabled.
  • In the window "properties: system", "Device" open item "Hard disk";
  • Right-click "GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE **" (the name of the device may vary, but will contain "IDE DISK"). In the drop-down menu, click "Properties";
  • In the "Properties GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE**", DMA should be enabled;
  • If DMA is not enabled, enable it and ignore the warning about possible data corruption. When done, the computer should/will reboot, if not, manually reboot it;
  • After the computer restarts it is necessary to verify that DMA is, in fact, enabled. If not, it may be necessary to install a different driver for your particular hardware. Confer with your hardware vendor, or visit the Microsoft website and search for updated drivers for your hardware.
